A couple of Friday nights ago, I got a call from a good friend of mine Kathryn. The conversation went something like
-Hey Kathryn
-Hey Nathan how are you?
-I’m good
-Good, well I’m just calling to let you know that Rami took me to dinner at Asti tonight, and then he proposed and I said yes!
And that was it, she was gone to make a few more calls. I talked to her again on Sunday, and I’m pretty sure by noon she had the entire wedding completely planned. We’ve known Kathryn and Rami for a couple of years, and I don’t think I know of any two people more perfect for each other. We are so happy for them, and I’m deeply honored, and probably annoyingly excited, that they’ve asked me to photograph their wedding and the (many) festivities surrounding the occasion.
This morning, we did an engagement shoot, and we had so much fun. They were the perfect clients, because they wanted to shoot in places that were really meaningful to them, instead of a pretty field. Don’t get me wrong, I like a good pretty field, but for me there’s nothing quite like getting to photograph people in places that they love, and that’s what we did all morning, including the UT Campus, where they met when they were both students, Hut’s Hamburgers, the site of their first date, and Asti, where Rami proposed (and incidentally my favorite restaurant in Austin). Oh, we also stopped into Toy Joy, one of the places they love to hang out. It was a total blast. I’ll be back with some amazing edited photos from the session soon, but in the meantime, please enjoy some of the raw shots from the day…Kathryn and Rami’s engagement shoot in 60 seconds.
